Switzerland.

The IDIL VICE clothing label was founded in 1995 by Swiss native, Turkish-rooted celebrity designer and fashion model Idil from the city of Saint Gallen, Switzerland. Her idyllic and mountainous hometown’s foundation dates back to the 7th Century and is famous for its quality textile products, especially embroidered textiles, which are still popular with Parisian Haute Couture.

New York City.

Idil, a master graphic designer and fashion designer (autodidact training dissecting garments combined with master graphic design and marketing skills) - in search of something less traditional - ventured out to New York City where she fell in love with American Pop Culture. Her designs began beaming unapologetically with colorful graphics and printed pop culture icons on sporty streetwear styles inspired by Hip Hop and Rock music. Her line was instantly popular with the Euro Rave and Party culture of the mid-1990s. One of the highlights of Idil's career was designing a couture collection for Elvis Presley Enterprises in Memphis, Tennessee in 2006. Hollywood takes notice with celebrities such as Gwen Stefani and Kelly Osbourne wearing IDIL VICE fashions.

IDIL VICE’s notoriously rebellious style penetrated the mainstream over decades and her influences are now prominent in current mainstream collections of the global fashion industry. For example, Idil is largely credited for being the first to combine sneakers with formal gowns on the runway in 1996 and her conceptual work has influenced the major celebrity merchandising fashion trend of the mid-00s.

But Idil is not only a trendsetting designer, she also is a leader in the "Made In USA" movement. In 2008 The New Yorker Magazine named IDIL VICE one of the few clothing labels left being made in the USA, along with Oscar De La Renta and Anna Sui. The IDIL VICE collection was first presented online in 2006.

Idil's lines are celebrated as rebellious, trendy & fun concept fashion and have a reputation of long-standing quality and sustainability, made in the USA. IDIL VICE’s independent design and manufacturing headquarters are currently located in the San Francisco Bay Area since 2014.

Oakland.

In the Summer of 2022, Idil opened her flagship boutique in Oakland, California. It is located in the Oakland Hills on 4193 Park Boulevard. The location also houses the atelier, where Idil continues to design and manufacture high fashion women’s clothing concepts and offers clients complimentary style and fitting advice.

The boutique also functions as a gallery for her husband Carl Posey’s extensive work as a professional photographer. An Oakland Native, his work is shown in publications and museums around the world. Through the local gallery, his work is now accessible to his original community, which naturally are the subjects of many of his images, especially Carl’s early portraits of Oakland music artists, such as Souls of Mischief, Conscious Daughters, Michael Franti, Del The Funky Homosapien, Tupac, Digital Underground, Paris, Too Short, Ant Banks, Mac Mall, MC Hammer, and many more.

This hyper-creative husband and wife duo is also currently working on featuring Carl Posey photography on IDIL VICE clothing.
